Never in a million years could we have imagined that what started off as a relaxing, romantic getaway to the beautiful shores of Hawaii would result in a business idea that would have such a massive and positive impact on our lives and on everyone that lives on the amazing Gold Coast of Australia. But how could it not? If you have ever tried a Poke Bowl, you know what we are talking about. And if you haven’t, now you have a reason to come and visit us!

Being born and raised in both a culture and a family that places so much value and pride on its food scene, it was always a dream of ours to be able to share this passion with the world in a healthy, sustainable way.

When we tried our first Poke Bowl in Hawaii back in 2017, we realised that we could make this dream come true by combining our exotic flavours with the taste and richness of the ingredients that make up for Hawaii’s national dish. This enhanced motivation is what drove us to open HiPoke as soon as one year later, creating a fresh and welcoming space right in front of Kirra Beach where everyone is invited to enjoy a nourishing meal with their friends and family or just with themselves as a self-treat. 

At HiPoke, we have made it our mission to not only provide top-quality, tasty, wholesome food, but also an outstanding and memorable experience from the second you step in the store right until the moment you leave. Our friendly team will guide you through this fun gastronomical journey that will dazzle your senses, delight your taste buds, nurture your body and, hopefully, teleport you to the heavenly beaches of Hawaii.

What is a POKE BOWL

Poke Bowls are to Hawaiians as Pasta is to Italians or Sushi is to Japanese: a staple dish that you can find anytime and anywhere, from fancy restaurants to street markets, convenience stores and also at every local’s home. It is characterised by its fresh, marinated “ahi” tuna, caught daily by native fishermen who then cut it carefully into cubes and throw it on top of a base of sticky rice. Vegetables are then added to the already tasty bowl to heighten the flavour, nutrients, and colours of this exotic meal. Popular -yet not restricted- options are seaweed salad, edamame beans, shaved onions and avocado. To finish it up, a blend of sesame and soy is usually poured on top of the bowl, as inspired by their incredibly rich Japanese heritage.
